Pitching matchup
OAK: LHP Lenny DiNardo (2-3, 2.21 ERA)
DiNardo started strong in his first three starts for Oakland, allowing just one earned run. His most recent effort, however, gave him trouble, as he gave up five earned runs and was pulled after just 3 2/3 innings. The left-hander has never seen the Mets' lineup, and will look to redeem his last outing.

NYM: LHP Tom Glavine (5-5, 4.67 ERA)
Glavine has only seen the A's once in his career, and has never won a game against them. The veteran hasn't had a win in his last five games, and is ready to snap the streak. He'll look to get one step closer to his 300th win by earning his 296th career victory.

Player to watch
Against Glavine, Shannon Stewart is batting .462 in 13 career at-bats. The left fielder does well against left-handers, batting .302. On the season, Stewart is hitting .271, with 19 RBIs and two home runs.

Should Omar make a deal?

In Newsday today, David Lennon ponders the question on whether Mets GM Omar Minaya should make a move for a big time bat or ace-type pitcher. He questions whether Alou will play again this year and goes into detail on what potential deals could benefit the Mets' offense and pitching. If you were Omar Minaya, what would you do?

Mets leery of Milton Bradley

According to the New York Post, the Mets have expressed little interest in the soon to be free agent Milton Bradley. Mark Hale, cites team officials as saying they are "leery" to take on Milton Bradley who was recently designated for assignment by the Oakland Athletics due to his previous history. In 19 games for the A’s this season, spanning 65 at-bats, Bradley hit .292 with two HR, seven RBI and four doubles, with eight walks and 14 strike outs. The Mets, who are reportedly shopping for an outfielder to replace the injured Moises Alou, have looked at White Sox outfielder Jermaine Dye and Reds utility man, Jeff Conine.
